The 100E is BKK’s airport express bus that runs around the clock between Deák Ferenc tér in central Budapest and Liszt Ferenc International Airport Terminal 2, and it needs a special airport ticket rather than a standard single ticket. For a one-day trip with a dawn departure it is often the simplest way to get to the airport. Here is how it works and what to do if it does not suit your morning.
100E stops
In the city the 100E serves Deák Ferenc tér, Astoria and Kálvin tér, all with metro connections, and then runs nonstop to the airport. Towards the airport not every departure calls at every city stop, so check the exact departure in the BudapestGO app. At the airport the bus arrives at the departures level of Terminal 2, close to the check-in desks; buses back to the city leave from the arrivals level.
How often does the 100E run?
The 100E runs 24 hours a day. Since 1 April 2026, BKK says buses leave every 5 to 6 minutes in the morning and afternoon on the busiest airport days (Monday, Friday and Sunday), and every 6 minutes on the other days. Late at night they run much less often. Early in the day more departures head towards the airport, late in the evening more head into the city.
Journey time depends on traffic. At 4 or 5 a.m. the roads are empty, but plan with the BudapestGO journey planner on the day rather than a fixed number, and add a buffer.
100E ticket price and where to buy
- Airport single ticket: 2,500 HUF per journey, according to BKK’s official price list at the time of writing.
- Supplementary airport ticket: 1,000 HUF, for holders of a valid Budapest pass (except the half-month pass), a Pest county pass or a national pass.
- Standard single tickets and passes alone are not valid on the 100E.
You can buy tickets in the BudapestGO app, at BKK ticket machines, at BKK customer service points (several are at the airport) and at BKK ticket offices. Pass holders buy the supplementary ticket in BudapestGO and show their pass first when boarding.
Other ways to the airport early in the morning
200E bus from Kőbánya-Kispest
The 200E runs day and night between the Kőbánya-Kispest M3 metro terminus and Terminal 2; at night the route is extended to Határ út. It is a regular BKK line, so the airport ticket is not accepted on it, but standard BKK tickets and passes are. If you live along the M3 line or in south Pest, this can be cheaper than the 100E. At dawn, check in BudapestGO how to get to Kőbánya-Kispest at that hour.
Taxi or ride hailing
For a 4 a.m. start, a taxi saves the walk to the bus stop. Budapest taxis use a regulated fare, and the price is per car, so it is competitive for two to four people. Főtaxi is the airport’s contracted taxi partner and Uber also serves the airport.
Driving
If you live outside the centre or travel as a group, driving and parking can make sense. Our Budapest Airport parking guide compares the official car parks for a one-day trip.
Tips for a dawn departure
- Buy your ticket in BudapestGO the evening before, so you are not fumbling at a machine at 4 a.m.
- Check in online the day before and travel with just the free under-seat bag: you can go straight to security.
- Aim to be at the terminal early enough for security; our airport guide explains the timing.
- Check your bag size before you leave with our hand luggage size checker.
The Daytrip app shows the exact flight times for every one-day trip from Budapest and reminds you the night before, so you know which 100E to catch long before the alarm goes off. For what to pack in your bag, read what you can bring in hand luggage.
