Hand luggage size checker for Ryanair and Wizz Air
A hand luggage size checker compares your bag’s length, width, height and weight with the airline’s official cabin bag limits. Measure your bag including wheels, handles and outer pockets, type in the numbers and see straight away whether it travels free under the seat or needs a paid cabin bag option.

How the hand luggage size checker works
The checker sorts your three measurements from longest to shortest and compares them with each bag category’s limits in the same order, so it does not matter which side you call the length. A bag fits only if every side is within the limit and, where the airline sets one, the weight is too.
Measure the bag when it is packed, not empty. A soft backpack that is 20 cm deep when empty can easily bulge to 24 cm with a jumper inside, and that is exactly what the sizer at the gate will catch.
Ryanair and Wizz Air cabin bag sizes at a glance
Both airlines include one small bag that fits under the seat in front of you, at a maximum of 40 x 30 x 20 cm. Wizz Air allows up to 10 kg for it, while Ryanair sets a size limit only.
A larger cabin bag for the overhead locker is a paid extra on both airlines: up to 55 x 40 x 20 cm and 10 kg with Ryanair’s Priority & 2 Cabin Bags, and up to 55 x 40 x 23 cm and 10 kg with WIZZ Priority.
Why a free under-seat bag is enough for a day trip
On a one-day trip you fly out in the morning and sleep at home the same night, so there is no change of clothes to carry. A phone charger, a power bank, a light layer, a refillable bottle and your documents fit easily into a 40 x 30 x 20 cm bag, and you skip both the extra cost and the queue at the overhead locker.
The Daytrip app plans one-day flight trips from Budapest with a ready-made itinerary, and every trip is built around travelling with just the free bag.
Frequently asked questions
What size is the free hand luggage on Ryanair?
Ryanair includes one small personal bag of up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm with every fare. It must fit under the seat in front of you.
What size is the free hand luggage on Wizz Air?
Wizz Air includes one under-seat bag of up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm and 10 kg with every fare.
Do wheels and handles count in the cabin bag size?
Yes. The limits are the outside dimensions of the bag, including wheels, handles and outer pockets.
What happens if my bag is too big at the gate?
Both airlines check bags at the gate. If your bag does not fit the sizer, you will have to pay a fee and the bag may go in the hold, or it can be refused.
Can the same bag work for both Ryanair and Wizz Air?
Yes. A bag of up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm fits the free allowance of both airlines. If it is also under 10 kg, it meets Wizz Air’s weight limit too.
